About the Role

Carcell Biopharma is an EVX company that develops next generation cell and gene therapies. Co-founded by biotech veterans and backed by elite VCs, Carcell operates with a hub-and-spoke model to accelerate the development of cell and gene therapies from the bench to bedside. Carcell has assembled a top-notch R&D team in Singapore, and is establishing a state-of-the-art R&D and manufacturing center in Shanghai. Carcell's two lead platforms are around engineered red blood cells for immuno-modulation, and amino acid delivery using lipid nanoparticles.

We are looking for a Scientist / Senior Scientist with a background in biochemistry and cell biology (preferably in the area of cancer research) to join our R&D team in Singapore in this exciting venture. An ideal candidate is one who is independent, technically competent, highly motivated, and able to efficiently work across multiple projects. This role reports to the Head of Platform Development.

Responsibilities

  • Perform independent research work through the design, execution and troubleshooting of experiments

  • Interface with and manage external collaborators, including CROs, clinical and academic laboratories

  • Analyze, interpret, and report experimental results to the research group and other key stakeholders

  • Provide scientific expertise, stay up to date on the latest relevant scientific literature, and mentor others in research findings and techniques.

  • Contribute to scientific and strategy discussions to achieve R&D milestones

  • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of research data, inventories, protocols, maintenance logs, sample processing logs, SOPs etc.

  • Support the continued protection, creation, and expansion of company’s intellectual property

  • Perform other related duties incidental to the work described herein

Requirements

  • PhD in biotechnology, translational oncology, or related fields.

  • 2-3 years of postdoctoral and/or industry experience is a plus.

  • Willingness and ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment. Flexible, adaptable and adjusts quickly to changing strategic and tactical priorities.

  • Experience in general laboratory techniques including molecular biology, mammalian cell-culture, flow cytometry, molecular and cell-based assays (such as qPCR, ELISAs, western blot, reporter cells), histology & microscopy.

  • Working experiences in protein biochemistry, cell biology, in-vivo mouse models and/or cancer target discovery/validation are an advantage.
